Where we aim to be

ILCP Art Space is as malleable as any idea — for now. The artists navigate through the challenges of present circumstances, juggling time, resources, and attention for their individual art practice and daily living. Irma Lacorte is a full-time art educator in a university, and Tin Palattao is a freelance language editor.

Since its creation in 2021, ILCP Art Space is a self-funded, artist-run channel/platform to present creative output on-site, online, or both. In the long term, ILCP plans/dreams to develop its own physical space dedicated to artists, art production, and sustainable/organic materials research.

ILCP defines “space” from a geographic standpoint, that is, the artists’ current location as reference point in artmaking, and surveys resources that are accessible and available to the artists. ILCP organizes group exhibitions with fellow artists who, like Irma and Tin, also make room for a studio despite their limited living spaces and full-time endeavors.

The Site is a one-hectare land in the south of Negros Oriental, Philippines. The property is largely agricultural, entirely off-the-grid.

This vlog introduces The Site, a 1-hectare land that will become our home, art studios, and future off-the-grid art hub in Negros Oriental, Philippines. We have plans, lots of them actually! As we start from scratch, we are sincerely thankful for every person we meet and opportunities that come our way.

Shoutout to Kuya Lito, the best van service in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental! If you are in Dumaguete and need an affordable and reliable van service, give him a call!

More than a year too late, we have an update [video]!

This is a continuation of vlog 001, July 2022. The seedlings we brought with us were placed in position and would be planted by Nanay Nelda, the previous owner and current caretaker of the adjacent property, after their harvest.

We tried to do a DIY perimeter survey of the 1-hectare property in the south of Negros Oriental. By DIY, we mean installing bamboo poles with flags so we can estimate the division of the lots -- manually! Daghang salamat, Audie and team! After this, we will seek help from professional surveyors [vlog 003].

This is the first time we go beyond the cornfield and into the forest. Half of the property is not accessible, thanks to the big rock formations.
